TIGERS


             At the  dawn  of  the  20th  century, 100,000 tigers in 8 
          subspecies lived across much  of  east  and  south  Asia. 
          Today, three subspecies are extinct and the population 
          of the remaining five is estimated at 5,000-7,000 tigers.

         
Threats: Poaching, and logging is destroying habitat.
