Cheetah are the least powerful of the big African
cats,
but they are the
world's fastest land animal, sprinting
at 70 miles per hour.
Indigenous to grasslands in eastern and
southern Africa,
their numbers are estimated at around 10,000 in the wild.
Threats: Habitat loss and their limited gene pool.
