Endangered Species

GIANT PANDA

China's Szechuan province is the only wild  home of  the
giant panda. Just 1,000 or so are  thought to  survive in
the  wild, fragmented into some 30 populations  with no
    opportunity for genetic exchange.

Threat: Habitat destruction fueled by human population
growth,  logging  and  agriculture.  Pandas  are shy and
secretive, making them sensitive to habitat disturbance.
